Joshua falls prey to Mexican wave

Andy Ruiz Jr produced one of the biggest shocks in World Boxing history to claim the IBF, WBO and WBA world heavyweight titles. The 29 year old Mexican won the battle in the seventh round at Madison Square Gardens which was called as a fat vs muscle contest by many.

Anthony Joshua tasted first defeat in his professional career, a record which is now 22 wins and 1 defeat. The British boxer got knocked on the floor four times which was enough to end the bout with a TKO decision in favour of Ruiz Jr.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Joshua emphasised the importance of character to bounce back from this heavy defeat and praised the defence of the gigantic Mexican. Ruiz Jr may look fat but he has a lot of muscle mass underneath that skin and is more than capable of generating lethal blows that can even hurt the likes of Joshua.
