Newcastle United have appointed Steve Bruce as their head coach on a three year deal after parting ways with Rafa Benitez. The 58 year old former Sunderland boss admitted that he has always been a Magpies fan, a passion that came from his father.
Bruce did a wonderful job at Sheffield Wednesday last season by pulling them out from the relegation scrap to a mid table finish. They could have been in the playoffs if not for that Aston Villa defeat at home.
